This poster was designed by John Mainsbridge in the 1920's. It has a strong Art Deco design showing a colourful wood in Knockholt.
It has a piece of text in the area underneath the main image, which reads 'Post Knockholt sticker here'. This section would have been used to place a sticker promoting the price of fares to that station. A real gem, this poster is sure to look great anywhere in the home, an office or restaurant.
The poster shows the details of the printer that printed it in the bottom right hand border.
Like most posters of this period it was printed to the highest of standards. Known as a lithographic poster, lithography was a highly skilled process, and very time consuming. It gradually fell out of favour for these reasons. The finished product was a beautifully clear image, which gives the poster a painterly feel.
Original posters are highly collectable, and also make beautiful art for your walls. They have steadily risen in value and collectability over the past 30 years, and are now seen as a hot and trendy investment. Vintage posters are sure to hold their value, or rise in value over the coming years.
Dimensions of the poster: 102cm x 62cm (40” x 25”). Framed dimensions: 116.8cm x 73.6cm (46" by 29").
