Here is a mid-century lithographic Air France poster designed by the French artist Jean Colin and signed within the lithograph.
This very on trend poster would look great in a modern interior with its bold simple design and bright colours. It shows an aeroplane with a green train. This is the French version of the poster and the text reads ‘Colis Postal Avion’. It was made in conjunction with the French railways S.N.C.F (Syndicate National Chemin De Fere) and bears the Logos of Air France and S.N.C.F at the bottom.
Dimensions of the poster: 102cm x 62cm (40” x 25”).
Framed in a solid oak wooden frame and mounted in white. Framed dimensions: 116.8cm x 73.6cm (46" x 29").
Condition: Excellent, with only minor creasing. Please note that this poster is over 60 years old and may show some signs of wear.
The poster shows the details of the printer that printed it in the bottom right hand border.
Like most posters of this period it was printed to the highest of standards. Known as a lithographic poster, lithography was a highly skilled process, and very time consuming. It gradually fell out of favour for these reasons. The finished product was a beautifully clear image, which gives the poster a painterly feel.
Original posters are highly collectable, and also make beautiful art for your walls. They have steadily risen in value and collectability over the past 30 years, and are now seen as a hot, and trendy investment. Vintage posters are sure to hold their value, or rise in value over the coming years.
