Clematis Warszawska Nike (pronounced “Var-shav-ska Nee-keh”) is a robust and reliable climbing clematis, known for its deep purple blooms with contrasting creamy yellow stamens. It originates from Poland and has become a favourite among UK gardeners thanks to its compact habit, prolonged flowering season, and ease of care.
This variety blooms from late spring to early autumn, delivering a stunning vertical display wherever it’s planted. The richly coloured flowers measure around 10–15 cm across, forming a beautiful contrast against lush green foliage. Ideal for use in garden borders, trellises, obelisks, pergolas, and patio containers, this clematis can even be grown against walls or fences to soften harsh boundaries.
The Clematis Warszawska Nike reaches an approximate mature height of 2–3 metres (6.5–10 feet) with a spread of up to 1.5 metres (5 feet), making it ideal for growing up trellises, fences, or walls. It’s compact enough for container growing but tall enough to make a dramatic impact.
Supplied in a 3-litre nursery or decorative pot, the plant arrives at approximately 40–60 cm tall, depending on seasonal growth. It’s fully rooted and garden-ready, no additional potting needed.
This hardy climber thrives in full sun to partial shade, and it prefers to keep its roots cool and shaded while the top growth reaches for the light. Suitable for urban gardens, patios, cottage gardens, and contemporary spaces, its upright habit and lush blooms provide a beautiful vertical accent that fits effortlessly into many garden styles.
