The Story Behind Our Birth Year Books

Emersive Books began with a search for the perfect birthday gift.

I’m Robin, founder of Emersive Books, based in Cambridge. I created our first birth-year book when I couldn’t find one special enough to give my wife. Rather than settle for something ordinary, I chose to create a gift that felt beautiful, thoughtful and worth keeping.

That idea became What A Year To Be Born®, a series of hardback books researched, written and designed in the UK by me and my co-author Joe. In addition, our books are also printed in the UK. As we approach our twentieth title, the business has grown into a thriving family business involving me, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, my wife, my sister and my daughter.

Our aim is simple: to create gifts people are proud to give and delighted to receive. Each book celebrates a single birth year through events, culture, music, sport, photographs and memories, brought together to create a gift that feels personal and full of meaning. These are keepsakes designed to spark memories, start conversations and make milestone birthdays feel even more special.
