Unique Japanese woodblock print depicting a lake-water's edge, printed in blue, peachy-orange, silver and cool-green ink. A lovely present choice for lake/nature-lovers.
Rare art print, hand printed in Japan using the woodblock print method, roughly a5 in size - would work best when hung in a small/medium sized space, as the colour contrast of the blue and orange is striking from afar. The art print could also suit a nook, stairway, hall, landing or office/studio.
Close-up you can see two plants printed in silver ink. The composition of the picture is cut diagonally. On the bottom half there are warm red and white dianthus flowers - the white flowers use the white of the paper.
This print was designed by a Japanese master designer who liked to use the Golden Section. You can notice the balance of the composition is easy on the eye and divided into thirds. Being is handprinted, the quality of this original print is superior to a digitcal print and looks particularly splendid. It would make a thoughtful gift for someone with eclectic taste, who likes leaves and flowers, with a liking for Japanese design.
The art print was reprinted in Japan in the 1960s and was printed first-off in the early 1900s for a Japanese design showcase magazine that was handprinted.
