About

Unique handmade lamp shades.

I graduated in 2001 with a degree in Spatial Design: Interior and Landscape Design. I have always been making things from a young age, such as cushions and curtains. So it was an easy option to study Design.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to work in the Interior Design industry, more recently working for a textile supplier. I love helping Interior Designers source fabric and wallpaper for their clients.

I started Ara Shades early 2021, after deciding to handmake lamp shades from designer wallpaper. Now I use a variety of materials, such as; wallpaper, textiles and recycled T-shirt yarn.

I use products from top designers such as JV, Armani, James Malone and Pollack. More recently I decided to add an eco product to my collection, T-shirt yarn. This unique lamp shade is handwoven in recycled T-shirt yarn.
