Clematis montana ‘Broughton Star’ is an outstanding member of the Montana group, celebrated for its vigour, reliability, and spectacular spring displays. What truly sets this variety apart from other montanas is its distinctive semi-double flowering form. Each bloom features layered petals arranged in an elegant star shape, giving the flowers a fuller, more opulent appearance than the traditional single-flowered types.
The flowers emerge in abundance during May and June, often so profusely that the plant appears completely covered in soft pink blossom. The colour palette is particularly refined, beginning as a rich plum-pink and gradually fading to a gentler rose tone, creating natural variation and depth across the plant. On warm, still days, the flowers release a subtle, sweet fragrance with hints of vanilla, adding a sensory element to their already dramatic visual appeal.
