Clematis ‘Bernadine’ (Evipo061) is a modern, large-flowered clematis bred specifically for compact growth, exceptional flower power, and outstanding garden performance. Part of the renowned Raymond Evison breeding programme, it reflects a focus on reliability, health, and refined aesthetics.
The flowers are large and single, typically measuring up to 12–15cm across. Each bloom displays a cool, pale lavender-blue tone that often appears washed with a silvery glow, particularly in bright but gentle sunlight. The petals have a smooth, silken texture with softly undulating edges, lending the flowers a graceful, fluid appearance. At the centre, a neat cluster of creamy-yellow stamens provides a warm contrast that enhances the bloom’s luminous quality.
Clematis ‘Bernadine’ typically reaches a mature height of approximately 1.2–1.5 metres, with a spread of around 60–80cm. Its large, single flowers measure up to 12–15cm in diameter and are produced continuously from early summer through to early autumn. The plant’s compact, bushy habit makes it ideal for containers, small trellises, low fences, and obelisks. Its manageable size allows it to provide vertical interest without dominating surrounding plants, making it particularly suitable for patios, balconies, courtyards, and front-of-border planting schemes.
