Love Unordinary
Bird Brain is about bringing modern meaning to old and forgotten Victorian illustration. After trawling through archives of 1800s natural world observations, toy catalogues and more, I pick apart the images and dream up new, weird and wonderful creatures, whose names play on words, objects and phrases.
We use a number of print-making methods, including screen-printing, hand stamping and digital printing, always done in the UK, on to high-quality and eco-friendly materials.
Bird Brain began in a drafty attic in West London. Using an old picture frame and staple gun to make basic silkscreens, I taught myself how to print. Now adays all screen printing is done in an independent studio just outside of London.
