This hands-on workshop runs in the morning for around 2.5 hours. You will work with our Two Chimps espresso machine here at our HQ and roastery. We run these sessions in small groups of coffee enthusiasts, ensuring each student has devoted time and guidance from our barista. To begin with, we will introduce speciality coffee and how it’s grown, processed and ethically sourced. Next, we will discuss the coffee roasting process and the magic of Two Chimps Coffee.
We then head into the training room (this is where the real fun begins). All the best drinks a barista makes start with the most essential element…Coffee! All good drinks need a shot of espresso; as everyone knows, this is where the joy comes from. We teach you how to dose, tame, tamp and extract espresso, demonstrating the tips for spotting over and under extraction. This will lead to you adapting your coffee to water ratio to achieve various espresso ‘style’ shots with a brief introduction to steaming and texturizing milk.
We will conclude with a ‘drinks-off’, breaking down the differences between the standard drinks you see at cafes and how to make them. This is your opportunity to apply all your new skills and knowledge to create all these beverages before the workshop ends.
