Personalised Aesop's Fables book - a lovely new baby gift, Christening gift, Baptism gift, Naming Day gift or 1st birthday gift.

The Baby's Own Aesop is a children's book illustrated by Walter Crane and published in 1887. The text is an adaptation in rhyme of the famous Greek story teller Aesop's tales. Each page of the book is devoted to a short retelling of one of Aesop's Fables, with vivid and amusing illustrations by the artist. In total there are about 54 illustrations, most of which are in colour. The text is not type set but instead written in decorative letters and forms an integral part of the illustrations. The book has been created using archives stored in the Victoria & Albert Museum.

The book can be personalised with the recipient's name (up to 12 characters) which will appear on the cover and a personal message (two lines of up to 40 characters) on the opening page. Please do not include accents or symbols in your personalisation as we are unable to reproduce these. Please double check that your requested personalisation is correct as it will be copied exactly.

The book is presented in a cream gift box making it a perfect new baby present, Christening present, Baptism present, Naming Day present, 1st birthday present or a baby's first Christmas present.

Please be aware that this item will be made especially for you so can only be returned if faulty or not in accordance with your requested personalisation.

Aesop's Fables refers to a collection of fables credited to Aesop, a slave and story-teller who lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 560 BC. Many stories included in Aesop's Fables such as The Fox and the Grapes (from which the idiom "sour grapes" derives), The Tortoise and the Hare, The North Wind and the Sun, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The Ant and the Grasshopper are well-known throughout the world and remain a source of moral education for children today.

Walter Crane (1845-1915) was one of the earliest contributors to children's literature and one of the most influential illustrators in the development of children's colour picture books. Crane began working for Edmund Evans in 1864 producing bright, colourful books which revolutionised the type of children's books available.
