These are our stylish Whitby Jet cufflinks, deep set in Sterling Silver. They make a unique gift, particularly for those with an interest in British geology.
Jet has been called the 'Black Amber of the North'. Whitby Jet is organic and is naturally formed from fossilised wood. It is a fossilised relic of the monkey puzzle tree, formed about 180 million years ago during the Jurassic period.
The material came to prominence in the Victorian period. When her beloved Albert died in 1861, Queen Victoria took to wearing Jet jewellery in remembrance of him.
Cufflinks are square measuring 15mm x 15mm.
