This decorative bowl is a handmade, one-off, eco friendly product.
It is made of two parts, a small bowl that sits within a stepped plate produced from expired accounts books.
Each page is layered together and compressed into a block, once dried it is then turned on a wood lathe.
Wood becomes paper becomes wood.
A vanish coating is then added to protect the paper and enhance the colours and words appearing in the surface patternation.
This piece is very intriguing and tactile; it’s hard to believe it is made entirely from paper.
The piece is approximately 8cm in height and 18cm in diameter.
This piece has been signed and dated by Hannah Lobley.
