Shakespeare’s favourite poetic form – the sonnet; exclusively brought up to date in a fitting tribute to Shakespeare’s favourite footballer* – Bobby Moore, alongside a striking Pop Art style print of the iconic English legend.
A collaboration between Invisible Friend design and sporting poet Matthew Cretney. Sonnet as follows:
Barking born, to the dread of bomb and blitz / Turmoil that bred innate need to defend. / The youngest man to wear the band befits / That ‘Captain’ honour: Player, gent and friend. / From Upton Park to Wembley, England knew, / And crowded round the pitches that he graced. / This poised, pragmatic inspiration who / Was moves ahead of all those that he faced. / The team that Ramsey built around him gelled, / Opponents tackled until out of tricks. / A nation’s dreams were in his hands that held / Jules Rimet aloft in nineteen sixty-six. / England’s Churchill, Shakespeare, Newton; in sport all / Combined within Sir Bobby Moore. Immortal.
Print comes in classic, deep black wooden frame and white mount. Print size: 29cm x 20cm. Frame size: 35cm x 27cm.
