Beautifully handmade earrings using the iconic jenny wren from the penny farthing coin.
Many people have a soft spot for this little bird and these stunning earrings have a twist of nostalgia which is bound to make people smile.
Rachel hand cuts this wonderful little wren from the old penny farthing coin and finishes it with sterling silver to make a stylish and contemporary pair of stud earrings- a truly desirable gift for any woman.
A perfect gift with real impact, especially if you have them personalised to celebrate a birthday, wedding or any date of significance with the special year or full date added onto the presentation box.
Just let Rachel know what information you would like and she will lovingly write it in her own fair hand to add that really special and thoughtful touch to your gift, free of charge.
To cut the farthing Rachel uses a piercing saw (a small silversmiths saw), which takes very fine blades. The fine detail she achieves is all done by hand, using lots of saw blades and very good eyesight (at present, though swiftly being used up)! She then polishes the wren to remove any rough edges and silver solders it to the round silver surround, finishing the piece by attaching the earring post. It is then thoroughly cleaned up, ready to be worn by the lucky owner.
Lovingly handmade in Somerset, England.
Wren is copper and the surround sterling silver.
Earring post and butterfly back are both sterling silver.
Any tarnishing of the metals can simply be cleaned with a silver cloth or dip.
