The Jasminum Officinale, often called Common Jasmine or Summer Jasmine, is a time-honoured climber that brings elegance and enchantment to any garden. Its small, star-shaped, pure white flowers emerge in abundant clusters throughout the summer and into early autumn, releasing an iconic, romantic fragrance that fills the air and evokes long, warm evenings outdoors.
This variety of jasmine is a deciduous to semi-evergreen climber, which means it may keep its foliage in milder winters while remaining vigorous and reliable. It is known for its strong, fast growth, reaching up to 8 metres if well supported. Its flexible stems allow it to climb naturally over trellises, fences, pergolas, or arches, forming a cascade of green leaves and white blossoms.
Your Jasminum Officinale will arrive in a 3-litre pot, with a young but vigorous plant ready for transplanting. At the time of delivery, the plant will be approximately 40–60 cm in height, but it can quickly grow to.
Mature Height: 4–8 metres (13–26 ft) with support
Spread: Up to 1.5–2 metres (5–6.5 ft)
Its climbing habit makes it perfect for training up trellises, fences, or arches. The plant thrives in well-drained soil and appreciates a sunny or semi-shaded position. This jasmine makes an excellent choice for adding vertical interest, softening hard lines in the garden, or creating private, perfumed outdoor spaces. Because it grows vigorously, ensure it’s supported and pruned annually after flowering to maintain shape and maximise next season’s blooms.
