Rice Paddle

A tactile and versatile handmade wooden rice paddle to effectively sweep and stir grains without mashing them. An ideal kitchen utensil.

Inspired by the Japanese 'shamoji', a large flat spoon to serve rice, we have created our own version. We eat a lot of rice so this one is for all the fellow rice lovers out there.

We also use them in the kitchen to toss vegetables in a roasting tray. A lovely piece to also take straight to the serving table. The handle with a slight curve allows for easy gripping and is ever so tactile.

These pieces have been beautifully carved and are a perfect gift for a foodie. Some of the paddles feature a unique two-toned natural grain, showcasing the raw natural beauty of African Blackwood.

We work directly with our group of Makonde wood carvers who are renowned for their craftsmanship, a skill passed down for generations from father to son.

Care: Hand wash gently in lukewarm water and dry immediately. Do not put in the dishwasher or leave soaking in liquids. Use food safe mineral oil when required to retain the natural finish of the wood.
