Variations
The Sapphire is the birthstone for September, and is one of just four genuine precious stones (incl Ruby, Diamond and Emerald), and it's name actually comes from the Greek word 'sappheiros' meaning 'precious stone'.
Sapphires have often symbolised heavenly grace, virtue, sincerity and constancy, and were worn by Medieval clergy to symbolise holiness and attract heavenly blessings and wisdom.
