Wensleydale Woolies is the brainchild of Naomi Thomas and her family to enable her to grow her flock of Wensleydale sheep and help to save this wonderful native rare breed for future generations. Wensleydale sheep have been on the Rare Breed Survival Trust Register ever since it was created over 20 years ago, however the breed numbers have remained static for the last 5 years. Naomi is hoping to raise these numbers and branch out into a flock of Black Wensleydale sheep to add to her White flock.
Every cardigan, pair of gloves or scarf is hand-knitted using 100% Wensleydale wool, and every throw and cushion is made of 50% Wensleydale and 50% Kerry Hill wool. All proceeds from the sales go back into furthering Naomi’s small holding of rare breeds, in the Hampshire Countryside.
Wensleydale wool is acknowledged as the finest and most valuable lustre longwool in the world. Pure wool is natural, sustainable, warm in winter, cool in summer, comfortable, flexible, versatile, and bio-degradable. Wool products are durable, with a natural bounce back, and are non allergenic. Every one of the Wensleydale Woolies products improves and softens with washing as well, so they just get better and better the longer you have them!
To possess a unique hand-crafted item made from Wensleydale Longwool is an experience to be cherished and enjoyed for years to come.
