Rose is a contemporary jeweller working in bone china, porcelain and silver to create original pieces of very wearable jewellery.
Although the work is contemporary she often references the past with the use of vintage lace and wallpaper as textures. The inherent strength of porcelain and bone china allows her to create jewellery which appears deceptively delicate resulting in elegant pieces.
The work has a refined, handcrafted feel to it and often celebrates imperfections; the materials are allowed to speak for themselves rather than being tidied up and forced into 'perfect' shapes.
Prior to setting herself up as a jeweller Rose had significant success as a furniture and product designer, being published in the likes of Blueprint, Elle Decoration, Crafts magazine and many others. She also had work displayed at the V&A and the Design Museum.
Having been a designer for ten years Rose realised there was an element of the design process which was missing i.e. making. Combining her passion for jewellery and ceramics seemed like an obvious choice. She launched her jewellery business at the craft exhibition Origin at Somerset House in 2009 and since then has created an original body of work which has been greeted with enthusiasm from galleries and customers alike.
