Established in 2001 Jill Ford Ceramics is based in Jill's rural studio pottery in East Riding Yorkshire. Jill has developed a national and international reputation for contemporary porcelain. She supplies to a wide range of nationally acclaimed galleries including The Hepworth, Wakefield and shows at leading Ceramics and Craft Fairs.
Recent work is concerned with the beautiful characteristics of porcelain: its whiteness, translucency and fragile strength. The Barnacle candle holders are all individually made by hand from thin slabs of porcelain that are pinched finely on the rim. This allows the light to glow through the porcelain. Masses of holes inspired by barnacle shells, are pierced through the porcelain allowing the light to shine through creating a pretty effect. All glazed inside and hand washable- designed to be used to hold food and flowers, as well as candles.
As each piece is made by hand they are subject to slight variations in size and surface.
