This new collection of cushions is designed in collaboration with Transport for London and is inspired by the original 1907 tube station tile patterns.
An original collection of linen prints by Michelle Mason for Transport for London. The collection features four geometric patterns inspired by the Edwardian tile configurations, now mostly lost, from London’s original Bakerloo, Piccadilly and Hampstead tube lines. A contemporary twist celebrating the heritage and provenance of decorative art on London’s Underground stations.
Taking inspiration from disused stations such as Down Street, closed in 1932, and used as shelter during WWII for the Cabinet War Rooms, Michelle used archive material and photographs from the original appointed tile manufacturers Simpson and Woolliscroft.
