We only work with the best creative small businesses, each of which aims to delight and inspire customers; whether they’re designer-makers working with high-quality materials and personal designs, or independent retailers sourcing the next big trends.
We’re constantly amazed and inspired by their creativity, entrepreneurship and good old-fashioned hard work, and so since 2011 we’ve celebrated their successes in the notonthehighstreet.com Make Awards. The first year was a great success, so in 2012 we expanded the awards and hosted the ceremony at our Make, Do & Meet event.
This year, we’re continuing the tradition and celebrating more talented small businesses. By showing you the stories behind the products and shining a light on excellence, we can shout about those who represent the best creativity, originality and entrepreneurial thinking. We're honoured to have the opportunity to share their successes with you once again.
It’s very simple. This year, the Make Awards is made up of 10 prizes over four categories: business, product, customer and community.
Our sellers (we call them Partners) have nominated themselves for eight of these, seven of which are assessed by our panel of expert judges – including our own Holly Tucker and Sophie Cornish – who will apply their own insight, experience and wisdom to choose the winners. The eighth, our community award, is voted for by Partners.
Two further awards, in the customer category, are voted for by you. We’ll shortlist entries for the Best Customer Service Award and Gift of the Year 2013, and you’ll be able to vote for your favourite in each.
All the winners will be announced at the Make, Do & Meet event in May and we’ll publish the results here very soon afterwards.
