Our Story

Embrace the Unique We bridge the gap between bespoke solid wood furniture and affordable design,

Hi there! Thanks for taking a peek at us. We are a small family run business producing custom made furniture in the heart of Cheshire.

Just in case you’re wondering – ‘MUJU’- a noun, made from a combination of the flattering nickname the kids have for me due to my stature ‘big moo cow’ and the beginning of my lucky wife's name ‘Julie’. 2 Mere mortals, 3 kids designed by us, 2 naughty dogs and 5 chickens, at the last count, (numbers may vary depending how clucking crazy Julie gets).

We are the founders of Muju, back in 2016 we struggled to find furniture that fit our home, either too long, too high, wrong shape, and we were a little tired of the same flimsy chipboard products and couldn’t justify spending a small fortune on bespoke made pieces. We got to thinking why is this so hard? It can’t just be us finding this frustrating?

We have now produced handmade solid wood furniture for 5000+ customers and are proud to supply quality and unique pieces that people really love.

Why we do it1

We believe this should be the future of furniture, handmade, beautiful and bespoke

All I knew was working with my hands and when we coupled that with Julie’s love of interior design we started to contemplate how hard could this be to create and produce our own furniture? Turns out not as easy as it looks, or maybe I made it look hard, nevertheless – Muju lives!

We started making, for us, for friends and then for customers. We now have a small team who create and produce pieces that we are proud of, and for people we believe care in our core values.

  • "We are in love with our new desks! We had a slight adjustment made to the placement of the drawers on one of the desks and they came out perfect. The quality is top notch, the communication with the makers was timely, friendly, and warm, and the delivery details were well communicated. I can not recommend Muju enough!"

  • "The desk is just what I need, made to an excellent standard and I love the colour. Nice to be able to get a classic design like this. The sellers have been exceptional as well. One thing I was slightly worried about before purchasing was whether it would be smooth enough for a mouse to run on, given it's made from real wood. I can confirm it has a very smooth finish, so this is not a problem. "
