About us

Distinctive design for your home

Zena & Rose is a design studio based in London producing patterned homeware. It was launched in 2021 by Joanna Sanderson, our Creative Director.

We are passionate about patterns! Each product is based on original artwork that is exclusive to Zena & Rose. All our cushions are made from cotton in the UK.

Joanna’s knowledge of interior design history is the foundation of her business, which she acquired working for 10 years in the museum and heritage sector. Her mission is to make original products influenced by interior design heritage, thereby bringing it into the contemporary consciousness.

Zena & Rose’s values are based on environmental sustainability, which is achieved through responsible sourcing of suppliers and materials. We try to reduce waste at each stage of our process and make sure any left-over ink or material is recycled. We only use recyclable packaging and avoid using plastic.

Zena & Rose cushions

How it's made

Pattern design motifs are either drawn by hand and/or with computer software. We’ll then produce a technical repeat of the motifs and several different colour options for each finished pattern. The cushion covers are digitally printed then sewn together with attention paid to every detail such as piping and fringes.

All our cushion fabrics come from a cotton supply chain which is monitored by SEDEX and OKEO-TEX certification. This means the environmental impact of processes and the conditions of workers are checked to make sure they are fair and legal.

The digital printing process uses 95% less energy than screen printing. Both processes use water-based inks which are better for the environment than chemical printing. Left over ink is professionally processed and not going into landfill.
