Yorkshire Dales Distillery is our family run craft Distillery set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales just outside the historic market town of Richmond. Taking inspiration from our stunning surroundings, we handcraft exceptional spirits, which embody the essence of Yorkshire – so you can take a drop of the Dales on your adventures, to share with your friends.

We, Sarah and Tony Brotherton and our Team, create, develop, distil and bottle premium craft spirits. Pursuing technical excellence in distillation, producing in very small batches using traditional techniques and using local botanicals and a unique ancient mineral water from Swaledale for every aspect of our work, our spirits are noted for their smooth flavours.

Inspired by the rugged and challenging beauty of our home, the Yorkshire Dales, our own range of handcrafted London Dry Gins, Vodka and Rum are beautifully smooth and utterly unique. Many of our botanicals are sourced or created locally including a honey drawn from hives less than a mile from the Distillery, our own hay smoked black peppercorns, which are infused into Smokey Ram Yorkshire Vodka, and pink grapefruit peel which we prepare and dry.

Having spent most of Tony’s Army career based in North Yorkshire, we settled in a small village on the edge of the Dales and established the Distillery in April 2016. Our passion for handcrafted quality spirits is born from a longstanding family love for and work in the industry.

Tony’s cottage farm living grandparents were the original G&T fans inspiring a passion for home grown quality and the finest natural ingredients; Grandad used to scrimp on the gin for himself if times were hard but he always made sure that Grandma had her share.

There is a rapidly growing Team at the Distillery and the employment and training of Veterans, ex-offenders, young people and the long term unemployed is prioritised. The Distillery now offers an exclusive contract craft distilling service for a number of private clients and businesses.
