Louise Sanders

Born in Birmingham, I studied for a BA Honours Fine Art Degree at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. On completion of this I pursued a career as an artist whilst working within the arts, to subsidise my practice, and in 2007 I completed a Marketing Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. I was delighted to be elected as an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) in 2009. In 2012 I made the decision to move to London in search of greater artistic opportunities and to further my career as an artist.

Working as a professional artist for the last 4 years, I create vibrant, contemporary paintings working with gloss on aluminium. Fascinated with pattern and colour, my current work depicts images taken from my passion for travel, including trips to China and Dubai.

My fascination with reflections led me to experiment with the materials that I worked with and I am now known for my striking use of gloss on aluminium. I find that the high gloss finish of the paint and the reflections within the metal, create a visual interaction between the viewer and the painting whereby the onlooker's reflection adds another, changing dimension to the image. I constantly explore the possibilities of the materials I use and attempt to find a balance between the fluidity of the paint and more restrained blocks of colour.

I frequently exhibit my work at high profile art fairs in London and have also recently sold several pieces at a New York art fair. I have my work in collections around the world including China, Jamaica, New York and France and I will be taking part in a fair in New York later in the year.
