Over the last few years Jonathan Bentley has been developing a new range of hand crafted wooden sculptures for the home.
He lives in Berkshire and studied fine art sculpture in Leeds.
After working in London as a designer he studied at Central St Martins to a postgraduate level and developed his professional skills as an artist photographer, cabinet maker and mid century furniture restorer,
Whilst living on an antique life boat Jonathan taught himself the traditional craft of maritime rope art and rope fender making. Forged from his love of the sea and his experience and skills as a designer maker he developed and created this handmade, Eco friendly, wooden, high quality range of lighting sculptures.
A fusion of the heritage of maritime rope art, the symbolism of the endless eternal knot, beauty of natural wood and playfulness of puzzle balls, these beautiful art pieces are formed of many layers, rhythms and flowing forms cutting and defusing the light source.
The heart of his ethos is sustainability and the importance of making ethically and Eco friendly products. Each piece often take many hours of skill and passion to produce.
