Introducing FICH

FICH ceramics is a stylish, contemporary and simplistic brand which brings colour and elegance into your home.

Welcome!

I'm Fi, the two hands behind FICH ceramics. Every piece you see here is carefully hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel, in my home studio in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

I absolutely love the colours within nature and to highlight these, I release seasonal colour palettes every 6 months, one for Spring/Summer and one for Autumn/Winter. These colours are carefully chosen so they can be stand-alone, but also as part of a collection that works together seamlessly. This means as well bringing out new colours regularly, they will also be inline with the latest colour trends.

I first discovered my love of throwing in my first year of university. As soon as the wheel was spinning and I felt the sloppy clay in my hands, I knew that this process was going to be in my life forever. After 6 months of finishing university, eager to get back onto the wheel, I finally converted my garage into a home studio.

. . . .

I have developed a very special collection, especially for you guys on NOTHS!

I try and start every day being positive, or to push myself to do some exercise to get me going for the day, and this is where my range ‘Positive Pots’ comes in. A pot that gives you a reminder that ‘you’ve got this’ or a cheeky ‘oh hey beautiful’ that you can put on the shelf in your bedroom or on the kitchen side. I’m a massive advocate for self-love and feel it’s so important to look after ourselves, after all, we’re probably the only ones we spend 24/7 with for our entire lives, so it just makes sense that we do, right?

Finding the perfect gift for someone can be hard but I’m here to make that hunt a little easier. The second half of my collection focuses around the act of giving gifts which are; useful, beautiful and personal. Choosing a personalised piece from the collection shows the recipient that you have taken time and put thought into what you’ve given them as the item has been made especially for them.

How your piece is made

"Each piece is made and packaged with love"

A ball of smooth, white earthenware clay is hand-thrown and shaped into the desired form. This piece will then be put upside down on the potter’s wheel and the excess clay is carved off. After the foot is turned into the base, each piece is hand-stamped with the FICH logo. Your piece will then be bisque fired and then carefully hand-painted with your chosen glaze. It will then be fired again which brings the vibrant, coloured glazes to life.

Once they have come out of the glaze firing, they are wrapped in recyclable bubble wrap, wrapped in tissue paper and secured with a FICH sticker. Your pot will then be put into a branded FICH box, held in place by tissue paper and then placed into its second box. This way of packaging your pieces ensures its safe arrival to your, or your recipients’ home. Each piece is packaged with love and done without losing any aesthetic, the person who receives the piece will know that something very special is inside.
