Made in Britain
Fantastic project for developing your knitting skills; George is a stylish hat & scarf set which you make from our 100% pure alpaca yarn.
Knitting is the most popular craft hobby in the UK. This wonderful pastime is being taken up by celebrities, youngsters, people from both sexes and all ethnicities.
The Purl Alpaca Designs products are exclusive, design-led and upmarket. Our fleece is sourced from local breeders (and our own herd); it is hand sorted and graded before being made into yarn by a specialist spinning mill. Only the best quality is used and we blend the natural fibres to create our wonderful colour range. We don’t dye the yarn. Environmentally aware; even our packaging is made from recycled materials.
A great developing project for novice knitters. The basketweave pattern introduces use of the purl stitch and gives a good understanding of right and wrong side of the work. There is no shaping involved, but the lovely tweed effect is achieved by knitting with two strands of different colour yarn. The colours in the photo are Dawn and Light, but any combination of Purl Alpaca's natural colours will give a great result. Should a less busy result be wanted, try knitting in two strands of the same colour!
Suitable for the novice knitter with options to buy the hat or scarf separately
George is a really fast project for those with more experience!

Once returned as yarn, Kari-Helene Rane knits swatch samples of different stitches which in turn, inspire her to create a design which complements both the natural drape and lustre of the yarn, plus the intricacies of the stitch. With both tailoring and knitting as her specialist subjects, Kari-Helene’s designs make truly statement pieces.
The names for Purl Alpaca Designs are chosen from cria (baby alpacas) born to our own herd and alpacas in Cambridgeshire. The fleece from this award winning herd makes our yarn.
Once made, we recommend hand-washing as the best way to ensure Allegro keeps shape and lasts for years. We do however provide Care Instructions which gives extra tips on how to look after your Purl Alpaca Design.
