Science Meets Style

Wilde Iris meets at the intersection of science and style: a clothing collection of wonder-wear that supports young children's visual and cognitive development.

Created by two mums, in the midst of a global pandemic, our sensory clothing collection draws on the science of sight in order to support young children's visual and cognitive development. Our progressive designs mirror the developmental stages of sight, with the shapes, scale and colours of our patterns advancing in line with the age and stage of the child. Starting with black and white for newborns and progressing all the way through to technicolour for toddlers, we have put infant vision front and centre in a collection designed to fixate and fascinate the smallest eyes (whilst simultaneously appealing to style conscious parents).

The Science

Stimulate. Educate. Fascinate.

Between the ages of 0-3 years, a baby's brain produces more than a million neural connections each second. Science has demonstrated that you can actually improve your little one's brain function and encourage mental development by surrounding them with strong - and age-appropriate - visual stimuli.

The patterns of our clothes and accessories draw on this science in order to trigger these connections by age and stage and support your infant's ongoing cognitive, social and physical development.

> We use the science of sight to guide the shapes, scale and colours of our patterns in order to excite immature eyes and support developing vision.

> Our designs provide a great stimulus for learning about colours and shapes (which in turn feeds into other aspects of development, including the ability to categorise, sort, compare and communicate effectively).

> Attention grabbing. Wonder inducing. Our clothes provide sensory stimulation in line with the age and stage of the child.

  • "I love this sleepsuit! It looks so cute and the bold print is different to anything else in my baby’s wadrobe. It’s lovely and soft and the two way zip is very practical. The concept of my baby’s clothes visually stimulating him is a brilliant one! I can’t wait to buy some of the colourful patterns when he is old enough. I think this would make a great gift too. - Dalmatian Print Sleepsuit"

  • "My 2 year old loves this jumper - the softness, the colours and pattern, and the fact he can match with me (he was feeling some separation anxiety this morning and he asked if we could wear our matching jumpers - it seems to calm him ?). I can also attest that it has washed really well in the machine - hasn't faded and stains have come out. Just wish there were bigger sizes - my 4yo is desperate to match us too! - Technicolour Leopard Print Jumper"

  • "I bought this item for my first grandson. I was so thrilled how it looked on him and love the concept of stimulating his eyes at the same time. My daughter also commented how soft the fabric is, how well it washes and how practical the two-way zip is. I will certainly buy more Wilde Iris for my growing collection of grandchildren! - First Colours Leopard Print Romper"

  • "What a great product this is! So much more than a muslin! I use it as a cover up when feeding in public and an object to engage my baby when out in the pram. He is fixated by the black and white pattern and it has kept him entertained on many a stroll. At his age I’ve put all my colourful Muslins away and will just be using black and white! - Large Leopard Print Muslin"
