Green Botanic print cushion

Maemara takes ocean and landfill-bound plastic and turns a hazardous waste product into beautiful homeware.

Co-founder and MD Kelly Baker lives in the North Yorkshire countryside with her two young children and husband, and is passionate about tackling plastic pollution, environmental conservation and sustainability. A lover of vintage clothing, furniture restoration and all things preloved, and a passionate advocate of a reduce, reuse recycle lifestyle and the circular economy. Kelly left behind 20+ years experience in the corporate world of advertising and finance to realise a dream and bring Maemara to life.

Founded by 3 ocean and earth loving individuals, Maemara was born out of a desire to create an ethical and sustainable business with a conscience. More than 1 MILLION plastic bottles are bought every minute across the globe and ONLY 9% of all plastic waste produced is being recycled – the rest ends up in the ocean, landfills, and the wider natural environment. All Maemara cushions are made from 100% recycled fabric and filling.
