About Me

Fine-art prints (and more) of fascinating, detailed and beautiful hand-drawn maps. Discover the Art of Cartography.

My name is Kevin Sheehan. Welcome to Manuscript Maps.

I love cartography, especially antique maps for which aesthetics was as important as geography. Inspired by the cartographers from centuries past, I strive to create beautiful and engaging map art, adorned with decorative illustrations and informative cartouches.

Manuscript Maps was founded in 2014. From my studio in East Yorkshire I practice the craft of heritage draftsmanship, using dip-pens with a variety of illustrative and calligraphy nibs, drawing every line and letter by hand. From research and sketches to completion, my maps can take months to finish, but the results are worth it!

Maps are giclée printed with pigment inks onto high-quality textured paper. Prints are limited edition, signed, numbered, and dated, and shipped direct from my studio. Some of my best have also been printed as tea towels and jigsaw puzzles.

Maps make excellent gifts. They kindle past memories, inspire future adventures, promote discussions, and can be poured over like a great book. Thanks for looking!
