The memaid doll is simple to make and sew, and is very huggable, an ideal introduction to knitting simple texture.

To make your mermaid you will need: DK yarn in two colours (skin tone and whichever colour you like for the tail and hair), 3mm straight knitting needles, scraps of yarn for the mouth and eyes, darning needle and stuffing.

The octopus looks lovely sitting on a bed or a chair and is big and cuddly!

To knit your octopus you will need: two colours of chunky yarn (You can use any chunky yarn you have but we recommend Women’s Institute Neon Coral Soft and Chunky Yarn 100g x 3 balls- currently on offer 3-for-2 on Hobbycraft's website, plus Hayfield Bonus Chunky in White) long 7mm knitting needles, darning needle, thread, stuffing and grey yarn for eyes.

Suitable for knitters with a little experience, this pattern is a lovely introduction to knitting texture, with step-by-step instructions to knit the bobbly textured legs.
