"Silver Trumpet" A limited edition of only 10 photogravure prints by Clint Eley.
This stylish duo-tone (using two different colour inks) image is sure to appeal to music lovers of many genres.
The backbone of the brass section of the symphony orchestra and the heart of a soul or blues band the trumpet is also the leading jazz instrument. Famous trumpeters include Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, Wynton Marsalis and of course Miles Davis.
'Life is like a trumpet - if you don't put anything into it, you don't get anything out of it.' William Christopher Handy
This photogravure print (also know as intaglio from the Italian, 'intagliare' to engrave) is handcrafted in the UK using traditional printing processes and materials. The etched printing plate is inked and the image transferred to the surface of the paper by a hand turned printing press which gives each print a distinctive plate mark (see detail picture). As the plate is inked by hand for every print that is pulled from the press, each print in the edition is slightly different and therefore unique.
Edition is limited to only 10 prints + 2 artist's proofs. Signed, bottom right and numbered 1/10 through to 10/10 (artist's proofs signed but un-numbered)
Each prints comes with a certificate of authenticity. Provenance: Artist
Printed using traditional archival pigment printing inks onto Somerset Velvet 100% cotton, acid free paper.
The image size is 15½" x 19¾" (395mm x 500mm) printed onto paper measuring 22½"x 29.¾" (570mm x 755mm) and supplied unframed. Because the paper has an un-trimmed 'deckle' edge and the intaglio is a handmade process the measurements may vary slightly from those given here.
Each print is wrapped in acid free tissue paper and sent out rolled in a sturdy tube.
