Framed, limited edition of only 10 cyanotype 'sun-prints' by Clint Eley. These stunning sun flowers are in cool blue tones - right on trend!
You don’t have to be a photography expert to appreciate the beauty and elegance of these images but you may like to know that the cyanotype, also known as the 'blueprint', is one of the earliest photographic processes. Invented in 1842 by the astronomer, John Herschel, the process has remained virtually unchanged to this day. It uses a solution of iron compounds which produce a rich blue colour unlike the usual silver based formula used in traditional black and white photographic printing.
Each one of these delightful sunflower prints is individually handmade and therefore unique. The sensitiser is brushed onto watercolour paper, the negative is placed on top and then exposed to sunlight; giving rise to the alternative name of 'sun-print'.
Framed in black or natural wood finish, this classic image will look at home in any interior.
Produced in small batches, when the sun is shining (!) each print has its own individual character. We show only the prints produced so far! See images to choose your favourite and select the print number from the drop down menu.
The edition is limited to a total of only 10 prints (we're waitng for the sun to create the next batch!). Signed, bottom right and numbered 1/10 through to 10/10. Each prints comes with a certificate of authenticity. Provenance: Artist
The print will be framed in your choice of either black or natural wood finish - please select frame colour from the menu.
