Engraved Oak Mile Post

These stunnign solid English Oak posts are handmade to order in our UK workshop.

These beautiful solid oak personalised signposts are just beautiful. We can carve these with your own chosen engraved lettering, stating those special places you have visited or the location of loved ones and family. Our engraved wooden mile posts are all handcrafted from 10cm thick Superior Grade English Oak.

We make these solid oak posts from one piece of ‘Air Dried’ hand-selected English Oak. We would like to stress, these are made from Air Dried Oak and not Green Oak. The reason why this is so important is that green oak is cut straight from the tree soon after it is felled and has not been dried in any way. This will over time dry out even in outdoor conditions and will move, split and crack as it dries and becomes accustomed to its surroundings. ‘Air Dried’ oak is as it states. It has been left to dry out over a long period of time – for several years and has acclimatised and settled into its surroundings. This means any movement or splitting has already occurred and can be removed leaving a flawless finish. This also means you can pretty much rely on the fact, as much as you can with a natural product like wood, that your beautiful Mile Post will not change significantly once you have placed it in the ground. Your oak post is already perfectly accustomed to outdoor conditions.

Setting your Personalised Oak Mile Post:

We recommend you set your oak milepost in concrete for making sure it is properly secure. You can purchase small bags of ready-mixed concrete to fix the post in the ground yourself or contact a local specialist. We recommend you set a minimum of 20-30cm into the ground.

Personalise your oak Milepost:

The price includes engraving on the front face – up to 20 characters. This can be laid out over one or two lines – it is completely up to you. We also offer further engraving on the other three faces if required. The sides are numbered 1 to 4 and they rotate, from the front face, clockwise in order. i.e. Side 2 – is on the left-hand side / Side 3 – is on the back / Side 4 – is on the righthand side. Black, white and grey paint-filled engraving is also available.

Finish:

All our Mile Sign Posts can be made without any finish at all so it will weather faster or you might want to create it with a finish of your choice. We also offer Liberon Superior Danish Oil included in the price or you can choose to have our hard-wearing low maintenance Diamond Coating for maximum protection.
