Join The Cult

The Sourdough Cult began with a bubbling family starter passed down through generations. Founded by Michael, whose obsession with bread making deepened during a journey to reduce ultra-processed foods in 2024, the cult was born from a desire to return to slower, simpler baking using just flour, water, salt and time.

What started as flour-covered kitchens, long fermentations and gifting jars of starter to friends soon became small market stalls across Cheshire, where curious passers-by became fully fledged followers of the cult.

We created The Sourdough Cult to make sourdough feel exciting rather than intimidating. Whether you’re baking your very first loaf or gifting someone a new obsession, our kits are designed to make the ritual approachable, rewarding and just a little addictive.

Every starter is live, active and carefully nurtured before posting. Each order is packed in small batches using beautiful, gift-ready packaging inspired by dark bakeries, old-world rituals and cult-classic design.

Our mission is simple: help more people slow down, bake incredible bread and reconnect with the joy of homemade food.
