Made in Britain
can be personalised
Our unique take on this quintessentially British design classic is equally at home in the garden or on the beach.
We invented the concept of the sailcloth deckchair back in 2008 and remain the choice of the discerning customer as our customer reviews testify. Shortlisted for the 2011 Make Awards.
Our chairs ooze quality while you snooze, with four increasingly laid back positions for even the most chilled user. Why settle on anything less?
A unique gift for a significant birthday or other special event. The perfect retirement present for some well deserved r and r!
Contract quality environmentally friendly frame, PEFC certified.
We can personalise the chair if desired with your choice of numbers, name or text for an additional charge. A name with two numbers or a six digit sail number depicting a significant date are also both popular choices.
Available in two distinct versions:
Recycled white sailcloth sling with choice of royal, red or black stencil or typewriter font.
Vintage style tan canvas sailcloth with white stencil font text and organic cotton trim.
Additionally the edge binding can be colour coded if required on white slings.
White slings are made from fast drying heavy duty recycled sailcloth, currently sourced from genuine round-the-world ocean going yacht sails, tan slings are often made from sailmaker's offcuts and roll ends. Edged with zig zag sewn sailcloth binding for authenticity and strength.
Each sling features an original sail seam detail from the source sail, note we only use heavy duty sail cloth to avoid 'big boned' disasters. Colourful dinghy sail slings may not be so strong!
Frames are made from sustainably grown durable Merpauh hardwood, classed by the Timber Research and Development Association as a 'durable hardwood' which is rated for 15-25 years ground contact.
To update this classic design to the 21st century we've added our trademark detail - a classic nautical reefing line allowing the frame to be secured closed when carried or stored.
As with all our products, trace the provenance of the source sail we used to make the deckchair on our website or via the Q.R. code on your smart phone to reveal full sail details and a photograph of the sail before we upcycled it. Please note this is only available for products made from an old sail and not those made from sailmaker roll ends.
