Recycled Bottle Tealights

Unique handmade tea lights, suitable for both indoors and out, made from recycled spirit bottles on a custom wood turned base.

Bottle Tealights are the unique creation of Welsh Craftsman Chris Marshall. Combining traditional woodturning techniques with custom glass bottle cutting, bottle tealights sit comfortably in almost any room, can be used with candle tea lights or fairy lights, and can be used both indoors or out.

All are made from recycled / reclaimed bottles, mostly gin and whisky, and the wooden base is made specifically to fit, from UK sourced hardwoods such as ash, oak or beech.

Chris has been making Bottle Tealights in his workshop on the outskirts of Cardiff for the last few years but it is only since the first lockdown in 2020 that he's fully developed the design to what it is today. He is always on the lookout for 'empties' and also offers the bespoke service for customers who supply their own bottle.

Hand Cut Bottles on a Hand Made Wood Turned Base

Bottle Tealights are made from recycled spirit bottles, typically gin or whisky bottles cut in half, with a wooden base wood-turned to fit the bottle perfectly. Whether the subtle differences in bottle shape or glass thickness affects the final look and feel or the classic differences in each piece of wood, means every Bottle Tealight is different.

The cut glass underside of each bottle is hand sanded to give a reassuringly smooth finish, though each one has its own subtly individual finish. Each wooden base is made by hand and finished with a durable yet pleasing to the touch wax polish.
