Original travel poster "Fly by BOAC and Quantas to Australia"
Here is an original SIlk Screen (serigraph) travel poster from 1954 , designed by Dick Negus and Philip Sharland . It was designed for the British Overseas Airways Corporation to Australia (BOAC). Printed at the bottom it says "in association with Qantas Empire Airways, South African Airways & Tasman Empire Airways". Printed in Great Britain.
Two sizes of this poster were printed this is the larger version.
The BOAC became Britain's state airline at the end of 1939 taking over from Imperial Airways and British Airways Limited.
Very good condition, unframed, will be rolled and posted in a strong postal tube.
As these are original vintage posters they are not in brand new condition so some ware and tear is to be expected given the age and the material. Even if the condition is described as excellent or very good the poster may still have very small marginal tears and creasing but does not detract from the main image. Any major conditional issues will be detailed.
63 x 101 cm / 25 x 40 inch
The size of this poster being 40” by 25” is known as a Double Royal in the poster world. This was the standard size used by London Underground and is still used to this day. A Royal (20” by 25”) is a standard paper size in imperial measurement terms and this is double that.
