The Looking Glass Gate Co
The inspiration for a Looking Glass Gate came from seeing a mirror in a friend's garden.
I took the idea a stage further and made my mirror look like a gate. People wondered how I had negotiated an entrance into my neighbour's garden, they were totally convinced by the trompe-l'oeil.
I realised I had a unique idea and began marketing them locally. The Telegraph ran a small feature on them and orders flowed in.
The beauty of my product is its simplicity. It can be installed in minutes, just needing something firm to stand on (a plank of wood is ideal) and something strong to wire the hooks to.
The fun is in finding the best position, angling it to catch the best light and the best reflection.
Maintenance is minimal, a wipe over with a soft cloth and proprietary glass cleaner once or perhaps twice a year is all that is needed.
