The English Shipmate

The English Shipmate

Life is all about the crew you sail with; our voyages of the heart. The English Shipmate is inspired by halcyon days sailing a classic wooden Yawl between Blighty and Brittany.

It's also unabashedly romantic; the siren call of the sea and we keep being inspired by all who send their gorgeous words to be rendered in metal forever for those they love...

Founded in 2013 by Silversmith Victoria Harwood: "It's a privilege to create bespoke items that you know have so much meaning. That they'll be thumbed in the pocked, handed down through families, and are part of creating a special memory."

Victoria makes everything carefully by hand in her studio in Corsham, near Bath; each item takes hours of bench time to create. The only machinery is a bench polisher for that final, high shine. Every article is struck with her maker's mark and fully assayed by The Birmingham Assay Office - whose mark is an Anchor - where legally appropriate. After a career as a national magazine journalist and creative, silversmithing has emerged as a passion and full-time occupation.

If there's a design or a variation you'd like, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
