The award winning, independent label Susiemaroon recently relocated to a derelict school in the Scottish Highlands. Keep your eyes peeled for new products over the coming months.

Where some homespun craft labels can make you recoil at the fear of a twee overload, the Susiemaroon products are sophisticated, clever, illustrative and full of pop sensibility. Susie focuses on creating high end, unisex lifestyle accessories at accessible prices. Having completed her studies as a fine artist Susie has an unconventional, humorous and sometimes literal approach to design. Thriving on distinctly individual principals and aesthetics Susie does not follow seasonal trends or jump on the what’s ‘hot’ bandwagon. Her grand plan to revolutionize the name of embroidery is prevalent in her simple graphic motifs.

Every piece in the Susiemaroon collection is created by Susie in her studio in the Highlands of Scotland. Her single embroidery machine works slowly and steadily to produce each unique piece in her collection. Susie works hard to source all of her materials from within the UK, using companies who have good environmental credentials and ethics. The leather used to create Susie’s products is sourced from one of the few tanneries left in Scotland. The family-run tannery on the West coast of Scotland sources all of their skins from Scottish Game Dealers who are closely monitored by the Deer Commission Scotland. The hides would otherwise be discarded as a by-product of the venison industry and sent to landfill.
