Studio One

I'm Ali, a recent fine art graduate from spike island in Bristol. I live and work in the cotswolds, making and selling unique cards and prints as well as bigger mixed media work and paintings.

I have also recently added a range of handmade jewellery, small artworks on pennies fashioned into brooches and pendants. These are inspired by old nautical tattoos and the superstitions and stories behind them.

My work is eclectic but usually with a touch of vintage and a smidgen of dark humour. I I love parlour games and old wives tales, overheard stories and the proverbial wisdom of the superstition. I like to look at the world as a child would, with the literalism it brings, drawing pictures of silver linings and egg sucking grandmothers.

I like to play and mix the ideas of the past and present exploring the oddities and questions in life, after all; what if the hokey cokey is what it's all about.
