Karibu! to my little online store.
I love to keep busy so I make little prints here and there from my little studio off a busy street in north London. I was raised in Kenya and have a very 'Jua Kali'* attitude to what I make hence the recycling or 'upscaling' as they now call it. I like using recycled paper, fabrics as well as quality, ethically-sourced handmade papers (some even have bits of actual flowers in them!). I don't stock much as I like to prepare products when a customer requests, so every single piece ends up being a special treat from me to you! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed making it!
My media are typography, letterpress, screen prints, wood cut, lino, pen and ink and water colours. My materials include handmade paper, recycled paper and fabrics or found materials and a whole lot of love and soul!
*Jua Kali literally means 'Hot Sun' in Swahili. It is (or, perhaps, I should say was) a thriving industry in Kenya, as I was growing up, run by individuals who made goods out of recycled metal and wood giving thus new life to old materials and providing functional and affordable goods.
