Hello, I am Laura…thank you for stopping to have a look at my jewellery designs. I am a jewellery designer/maker based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I have been making jewellery professionally since 2006. I started in manufacturing, but a hard redundancy pushed me to set up my own business alongside teaching Jewellery at a local college. After 15 years balancing making, teaching, exhibiting, and 2 children, 2 houses, 2 cats, 3 dogs I am now settled in my own studio with a full-time focus on making my designs. I am obviously still juggling the odd child and pet, but my work life is this lovely business I built from scratch.

Enough about me, lets talk jewellery. My work is all made with sterling silver, with many of my designs using recycled off cuts I have gathered over the years. This has been a huge focus with my newer designs as sustainability inevitably comes to the forefront of our minds. A huge driving factor in my work is individuality and making unique pieces that have their own character. I celebrate the dimples from sand casting, wrinkles from reticulation, colour depth from Keum-boo and the odd saw or file mark that sneaks through. It is the story of how it is made, and it is not by machine, it is by my fair (sometimes sore) hands and the skills I have picked up over the years.

I love combining silver and 24ct gold, the deep lush colour from gold in its purest form contrasts beautifully with the blank canvas of the silver. Applying it in foil form adds decadence but not weight, making gold jewellery affordable. I love colour, and I have added handmade porcelain elements to my work and now cheerful semi-precious stones. Sentiment and connection have crept to the forefront of my designs and hopefully you will find something in them to spark joy for you or someone you want to treat.
