One in a series of three, this beautifully drawn protea print works beautifully in any style of home.
I lived in South Africa for 18 months and I couldn't resist drawing a few of their stunning national flowers. There are so many types and variations to choose from.
The protea is printed as a giclee. It is printed with light fast inks in London, on 100% cotton paper that is produced in Somerset.

The original was drawn in HB pencil. The key is to keep the pencil sharp to make sure I can get all the tiny details drawn accurately.
After scanning at very high resolution to capture every mark, the image is cleaned around the edges and levels are tweaked so that the prints detail and contrast looks as close to the original as possible. The high quality results that giclee printing produces is ideal for representing the fineness of my work and the nature of this process ensures the print lasts lifetimes. The fine art paper used is called Somerset Velvet, made at a mill in Somerset. It is a premium 100% cotton paper with a soft watercolour paper texture. This printing process is used to produce light fast archival prints with inks that do not fade over time
