This tasteful square candle holder is is weighty, solid and smooth, and looks great as a set of three. It holds standard tealight candles and is made from polished hard soapstone and has delicate brass finishings. They make ideal gifts.
The stone is mined and carved in western Kenya. Hard soapstone differs from the more common, softer variety because it is extracted from deeper within the rock. Soapstone feels like marble, is heavy and perpetually cold to touch. Hard soapstone is more difficult to come by - we found only one supplier in Nairobi, so even in Kenya it is a rarity. You may find some variations in shading as well as some discolouration, which occurs naturally in the rock.
