A stylish and unique personalised silver name necklace, each one individually designed and hand cut. A handmade original perfect for Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries.
Making these necklaces begins with a sketch based on my handwriting. Once I've tidied it up, I trace the word, and stick it to a piece of sheet silver that I have previously textured with lace. I hand cut the inner and outer edges of the name using a tiny saw blade. With little watchmakers files, I file off all the marks left by the saw, and then solder on the chain and clasp, and polish it to a bright finish.
Each one of these script name necklaces is completely original, handmade from start to finish by me in my workshop.
You needn't have a name, of course, what about 'Love', 'Adored', 'Sweetheart' or 'Mummy', the choices are endless. Some previous orders have been hilarious, occasionally unrepeatable, witty, touching, silly. How about a very personal nickname? Cryptic initials? A combination of letters that only means something to you and your recipient?
I've done so many now, but my favourites are Mrs Lumley/Mrs G and so on, often ordered by husbands for their wives on their wedding day! I've done names of businesses, children's names, 'Granny', 'Aunty'. These name necklaces have been given as 18th, 21st, 40th, 50th birthday presents, Christmas, Anniversary, Engagement and Hen Night gifts (the last one was the unrepeatable one!). They are a unique and original token of your love and affection at any occasion.

The necklace will arrive in a smart black and silver box with a magnetic snap fastening. The words 'jemima lumley jewellery' are embossed in silver on the lid. Ribbon and free gift tag come as standard, and gift wrapping is available free of charge.

All silver products should be kept in an air tight box when not being worn. It's the oxygen in the air that causes silver to tarnish. It's best not to use a silver dip on jewellery, unless you are very thorough about removing every little scrap of the dip afterwards - dirt will cling to it like a magnet. My advice is to wear it in the shower, silver loves warm water and soap! You can use a soft toothbrush to scrub gently at the surface in soapy water if it's starting to darken. You can also buy good quality silver cloths online and in some shops.
Dimensions:
Sizes vary according to the length of the name. Letters (without ascender or descenders) are around 0.8cm to1cm high, and a five letter word is approximately 2.5cm long. The thickness of the silver is 0.7cm, while this sounds thin, it means that it is light and easy to wear. Silver is a very strong metal and will withstand daily wearing without becoming fragile.
The chain I use is curb style (for accurate image of it, please look at the pictures of the model wearing the necklace). This is extremely strong but looks dainty, and sits flat on the skin.
